Regardless of the season, I'm always craving something warm to drink: coffee, tea - even a hot toddy when the situation calls for it (it is March after all!).

On days when I'm short on time to brew at home, I treat myself to a drink at Starbucks. Regardless of where I am, I know I can order something at Starbucks and have it exactly the way I like it, even if I'm hours away from home.

Growing up in the Chicagoland area, I've seen a handful of Corner Bakeries but never went in. I didn't need to when there was a Starbucks on (what felt like) every corner. The hustle and bustle of Starbucks didn't faze me much, as I too was running in, to run back out. Some days though, it would've been nice to just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in a more relaxed environment, but again, I was on autopilot and would just Google Map the nearest Starbucks.

After transplanting to the Pleasant Prairie area six years ago, I drove down Highway 50 and a Corner Bakery (one of only three in the entire state of Wisconsin) caught my eye. I made a mental note to be sure to go in to check it out; after all, I had only heard great things about it. It was totally worth at least a try.

But then life happened: bought a house, engaged/married, babies, sold the first house and bought another, etc. To put it simply, I remained in my autopilot ways. Until last month...

YOU GUYS! I'm obsessed with our Pleasant Prairie Corner Bakery. The coffee! The fresh, made-to-order meals! The seating options! The awesome background music... I mean, come on!!

The atmosphere is whatever you need it to be, as vague as it sounds. This is where I can crank out quality work while refilling my cup of DELICIOUS coffee. Or, if I'm taking the kids out to breakfast or lunch, this place checks all the boxes for quick service, great menu options, and affordability. We don't eat out often, but that has changed drastically in the past two weeks. Selfishly, I know I can get great coffee here, but the more fiscally responsible me says it's because of the free crayons, coloring activities, and the $4.95 kids menu. Under $5 to feed the kids?! They love the food, and I love how good the food is for them.

Like with any business, it's the people that make it special. Our Corner Bakery is locally-owned and holy moly do they care about the service provided. I've never seen so many employees working at once! Despite seeing people tending to the stoves in the back kitchen, the real show is at the front of the house. Not only are they taking care of customer needs by placing orders, running out food, cleaning tables (the place is spotless!), but they are also in charge of putting the final touches on the freshly baked cinnamon rolls, bundt cakes, and other bakery items! Kudos to the staff who put in the TLC; it shows.

I don't know about you, but after I've had a few sips of a perfect cup of coffee, I feel like I can take on the day! Do that Target Run! Buy food for the month at Costco! Literally, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g you need to tackle that to-do list is all conveniently located within the same shopping center: The Shoppes at Prairie Ridge :)

Cheers!
